The questions we get asked.
How much does an EV charger install cost in Perth?Supply and install of a 7kW single-phase Zappi usually lands between $3,600 and $4,000, a 22kW three-phase unit between $4,800 and $5,400. The main variable is the cable run from the switchboard to where the car parks. Your quote gives one number for your home.
Can I just use the plug-in charger that came with the car?You can, but a standard power point delivers around 2kW, roughly 10km of range per hour, and it's not designed for 8-hour continuous loads. A dedicated wall charger is faster, safer and what your insurer expects.
Do I need three phase?Only for 22kW charging, and only if your car can accept it (many cap at 7 or 11kW AC anyway). For most households 7kW single phase is the right call. Not sure what you have? Pick "Not sure" on the form and we'll check from your bill.
Will it work with my solar?Yes. A solar-aware charger like the Zappi puts surplus solar into the car first. If you don't have solar yet, we can quote both together and often save on the shared switchboard work.
Is there a rebate?WA doesn't currently offer a home charger rebate, but the running-cost savings versus petrol are large: charging on solar or off-peak costs a small fraction of fuel per kilometre.
